10 Tips to Abolish Raccoon Eyes

Research shows that only half of indoor tanners wear protective eye-wear during a session. These tanners understand that they may be damaging their vision, but they still don't wear eye protection. When asked why they don't wear it, they say, "I don't want to get raccoon eyes!" 

Tanners are concerned about developing unsightly tan lines around their eyes- what can you tell them?

1. Wash your face! Yes, the No.1 cause of dreaded "raccoon eye" tan lines is SPF, not goggles! Most women's facial moisturizers have SPF- by the time you've applied moisturizers, eye cream, dark circle cover-up, foundation and eye shadow, you've potentially applied six layers of SPF! This also applies to the guys, as most men's facial care products also contain SPF. To develop a much more even tan, was your face before your session.
2. Carefully apply your bronzing lotions. A lot of tanning lotions contain bronzers; if you don't apply that product around your eyes carefully, you're painting giant raccoon eyes on yourself!
3. Adjust your eye protection.  If you adjust the position of your eye-wear a bit during your tanning session, you'll minimize tan lines.
4. Switch eye protection. Many tanners like to alternate between a couple of different eye-wear types. This is just like changing swimsuits to minimize strap marks.
5. Find the style that works for you. Everyone's eyes are a different size and shape, so find a product that fits you best. Lots of new eye protection products have come to market in the last couple of years- check out all the options.
6. Try Adjustable eye protection. Disposable eye protection allows custom fitting you simply shape the cone to fit your eye. Adjustable eye protection is perfect for people with long lashes or those wanting to minimize tan lines, as there is no nose bridge or elastic strings.
7. Have you been wearing sunglasses? If you've been wearing sunglasses outside (which we highly recommend), you've created your own large raccoon eyes. The skin tone around your eyes is going to be lighter- your sunglasses were also blocking your tan.
8. Eyelids don't tan well, even unprotected. The eyelids skin is one of those areas that don't contain much melanin, just like the palms of your hands, the tops of your feet and the inner forearm... eyelids often don't tan well.
9. There area number of touch-up products available. If you do have a bit of a raccoon eye, or white crease on your throat, shoulder blade pressure points that won't tan or the dreaded "smiley lines" at the bottom of your bottom, there are many sunless tanning products designed to touch up these areas and blend everything nicely. We like the touch-up pens... so easy to use.
10. All FDA - compliant eye protection is a complete UV block, so you may have some tan lines. If you wear eye protection when you tan, the raccoon eyes will improve with time... but if you don't wear it, your vision won't!

The Fascination 700 Series represents a new standard in elegance, beauty and function in a spray tanning instrument. The 700 is a rare combination of beauty on the outside and brawn on the inside.

Before "popping the hood" to reveal the robust tanning functionality that lies beneath, consider the bold contours and color accents that make this machine worthy of a spot in the most upscale salon setting. The elegant handle is organically formed into the body of the machine. The handle inset further lies within another design element - the sweeping concave, elliptical contour that is the Fascination's signature design statement. The elliptical motif appears again in the bold chrome trim surrounding the hose outlet. Chrome accents also trim the control panel. The unit sits gracefully and solidly upon four brief legs that have rubber inserts -- to protect against marring or scratching surfaces the unit rests upon.

The instrument control panel has three controls for power, auxiliary heat and speed. The speed setting toggles between three air speeds. What lies beneath all this beauty -- a powerful turbine motor tuned to deliver reliability and the correct air flow for spray tanning. For quiet operation, the turbine is contained within its own sound dampening housing enclosure. This enclosure is encased within the Fascination outer shell, together combining to provide double redundancy sound baffling. Air intake occurs at the rear of the unit -- to minimize intake of spray tanning over spray -- which can accumulate and compromise your motor. The air intake is protected by double redundant washable filters - an outer filter contained in a convenient snap out cover and an inner filter that is exposed once the outer cover is removed.

The Fascination Pro Spray Gun is a second generation design, incorporating many design and functional refinements. The body of the gun is rendered in the same color as the turbine unit and has the same chrome accents and refined contours. The design is lightweight and fits comfortably in smaller hands. Internally, a metal needle and nozzle is used rather than plastic -- plastic needles are used in designs which copy this one. A numbered, 8 setting selection dial precisely controls the amount of fluid flow. The solution cup housing has indicator marks to display the fill level of the cup. The air cap allows selection of horizontal or vertical fan spray patterns.
